How long do extensions take to put in?

Our clips make it super easy to attach and remove the extensions. With practice, it should take you about five minutes to attach the extensions and about one minute to remove them.  For our tape-in extensions we recommend having a professional stylist install them.  This will take 1-2 hours depending on prep.

 

What length does your hair have to be to use extensions?

People have differing opinions on how long your hair needs to be, but as a general rule, we find that if your hair is six inches or longer, you should be fine.

 

How long do the extensions last?

Love Your Locks Extensions are made of the finest quality human hair. If you take care of your extensions properly, they can last up to a year (see hair care instructions). If not treated well, they will need to be replaced every four to six months. The more you look after them, the longer they will last.

 

What type of hair is used in Love Your Locks Extensions?

We use 100 percent Remy human hair in our extensions. It is composed of premium young 100 percent natural human hair. Each strand is specially treated with the latest technology to smooth the cuticles in one direction. Because Remy hair cuticles are intact and unidirectional, they are much less likely to tangle or clump. Non-Remy hair often has the roots and ends mixed up. This creates more tangling, since the cuticles are NOT unidirectional. Human hair, unlike synthetic hair, can be heat-styled, permed and dyed.

 

What is the difference between the 120g,160g and 230g sets of clip-in extensions?

Love Your Locks Extensions come in two different amounts to suit your natural hair and your preferred look. Most people with thin to medium hair may only need the 120g set. People with medium to thick hair will most likely need the 160g set.  Our 230g/22" set is for anyone who wants to experience having some of the thickest and longest extensions on the market. Purchase of Love Your Locks Extensions 160g or 230g set will guarantee that your natural hair blends seamlessly with the extensions.

How many tape-in hair extensions do I need?

The number of tape hair extensions that you need depends on the type of look you want to create and your natural hair type.  Most people with thin to medium thick hair use 2-3 packs.  Individuals with medium to thick hair usually use 3-5 packs of hair.

How do I remove and reuse tape-in extensions?

You can remove your tape hair extensions using a remover, usually rubbing alcohol, and a pin tail comb.  The tape dissolves, which allows you to gently remove your hair extensions as easily as you were able to put them in.  Next, you remove any tape residue.  Then you can reuse the hair by applying new tape refills to the previously used bondings and attach the hair again in the same way.

Can I use heating tools on my Love Your Locks Extensions?

Yes. You can straighten, blow-dry, curl and style human hair extensions. We do, however, recommend using a heat protectant on the hair before using hot tools.

 

How do I know which shade to choose?

Hair extensions can usually be one shade lighter or darker than your own hair and still blend with it. In general, most people's hair is darker underneath than it is on the surface, where it is exposed to the sun.

If your hair extensions do not match or blend with your natural hair, we offer an easy exchange policy. Simply return the unworn extensions, along with a sample of your own hair (if necessary) for replacement for the correct color, or for a refund.

 

Can I dye my extensions?

Love Your Locks Extensions can be dyed. As a general rule it is easier to darken the hair than to lighten it. Always test a small sample of hair first. Dyed extensions are non-returnable.

 

Can I wash my extensions?

Yes. You can wash them just as you do your own hair using shampoo and conditioner. We also recommend using a hair treatment on them every few weeks to supply the oils that your own hair gets from your scalp. The hair treatment will keep your extensions looking healthy and shiny. 

For your tape-in extensions we recommend shampooing your hair as you would with your own hair.  When applying conditioner do not apply close to the tapes.  This could cause the extensions to loosen and possibly slip out.

How long does shipping usually take?

We will do our very best to process and ship your order promptly. Shipping times vary depending on your geographic location. U.S. delivery usually takes 3-5 business days; on rare occasions it can take just over one week. International shipping (outside the U.S.) usually takes 6-10 business days, but on rare occasions can take up to three weeks depending on customs. Please do not contact us until the expected shipping time has lapsed, as we are unable to investigate until the end of a reasonable shipping time period. We appreciate your understanding.
